Enchanter's Whetstone
User gains +1 To Hit and +1 Damage when attacking with a Rare weapon, including Rare alchemical weapons. This item has no effect on weapons of any other rarity, not even Common or Uncommon. This item affects both Melee and Ranged weapons, as long as the weapon is Rare.
When making Melee attacks, monks and rangers can benefit from this item, but only when both weapons they’re wielding are Rare. For monks, the weapons can be either hand-held or bracer-style. E.g., a monk could be attacking with two Rare bracer-weapons, a Rare bracer-weapon and a Brawler’s Horn, a single +1 Bliss Hammer, or whatever Rare weapon(s) they care to wield. An open hand does not count as a Rare weapon.
Q: Can Enchanter’s Whetstone modify Rare trinkets?
A: No. Trinkets are not weapons.
Q: But it has a damage wheel?
A: Not everything with a damage wheel is a weapon.
Q: If a monk or ranger is using a +1 Cestus in their mainhand and a Brawler’s Horn in their offhand, what combat bonuses do they get with an Enchanter’s Whetstone equipped?
A: Here’s the breakdown:
- As a +1 weapon, +1 Cestus gives a +1 To Hit bonus to their mainhand.
- An equipped Brawler’s Horn gives +2 To Hit to all melee attacks, including attacks made with the horn itself
- Both +1 Cestus and Brawler’s Horn are Rare weapons (to monks and rangers only), so both weapons also gain +1 To Hit and +1 Damage from Enchanter’s Whetstone.
- Total mainhand bonuses: +4 To Hit & +1 Damage
- Total offhand* bonuses: +3 To hit & +1 Damage
*Only True Grind tracks mainhand and offhand attacks separately. For standard adventures, only the mainhand bonus is recorded on the party card.
