As an Instant Action (contrary to what the token states, this does not use up either the wearer’s Free or Standard Action for the round), the wearer may polymorph into one of four types of Elemental. While polymorphed into an elemental, the wearer gains the following abilities, based on the type of Elemental chosen:
Cold
Cold, Fire, Shock, and/or Sonic damage inflicted on the wearer is reduced by 2 points per energy type per attack/effect.
Cold, Fire, Shock, and/or Sonic damage inflicted upon the wearer is reduced by 10 and grants 3 points of Eldritch-based Retribution Damage.
Retribution Damage: When a melee attack deals damage to a target possessing Retribution Damage (RD), the attacker takes damage equal to the target’s total RD. Ranged attacks, whether physical or magical, do not trigger RD. If an attack would have caused damage but is completely negated (e.g., Cloak of Shadowskin) or the attack’s damage is reduced to zero (e.g.,
Protect the wearer’s hands from non-magical hot or cold objects
Does not protect against magical Fire or Cold
Cold, Fire, and/or Shock damage inflicted on the equipper of this token is reduced by 5 points per energy type per attack/effect. Thus, if a single attack dealt at least 5 Cold, at least 5 Fire, and at least 5 Shock, the total mitigation from this item would be 15.
Grants immunity to non-magical Cold damage and immunity to all Cold Climate penalties.
Cold Climate Penalties:
Initiative: Due to the numbing effects of a Cold Climate, characters are slower to react to danger. For every party member not protected from the cold, the party suffers a -1 to their initiative rolls.
Spell Failure: Every time a character casts an offensive spell in a Cold Climate, the DM will quickly roll a d20.
