When the wearer attacks with a 1-handed weapon (melee or missile) and wields a shield, the wearer’s attacks crit on a natural 19-20. If the wearer’s attack already crits on 19-20, this token does not affect their crit range. However, if some other crit-enhancing magic can expand one’s crit range beyond 19-20, use whichever crit range is wider. I.e., crit-expanding effects do not stack, they overlap.

Q1) In order to expand the crit range, must one equip a shield in the same mode (melee or missile) that the attack is made in?
A1) Yes. If only one of those modes has a 1-handed weapon & shield combo, the crit range for the other mode is not expanded by this medallion.

Q2) If I use a bow and a buckler, can I get the expanded crit range?
A2) No. Even though a buckler is a shield, bows are 2-handed weapons. Only a 1-handed weapon and shield combo qualifies.

Q3) Would a shield and a thrown weapon qualify for the expanded crit range?
A3) Yes. As long as a shield is equipped, any 1-handed weapon (including alchemical) qualifies.

Q4) Can I equip something like a Brawler’s Mug or Orb of Might and get the expanded crit range?
A4) No. Neither of those items are shields.
