Gloves of the Flying Fists
Monks wearing these gloves may make flurry of blows (and by extension, dazing/stunning fist) attacks against ranged targets. These attacks are made using the monk’s melee modifiers on the party card and whichever melee token(s) the player is using. Do not place this token in the slider because it has no damage wheel.
Much like how a someone has the option to fire a bow into melee combat, monks may make attacks using these gloves on a target that is capable of being hit in melee. As previously mentioned, the monk’s melee stats are used to resolve whether the attacks hit and how much damage is dealt.
When used to attack an opponent, tangible clones of these gloves magically launch themselves from the monk’s hands toward the target and then dissipate as soon as the attack is completed. They don’t require a lot of space, so a permeable object like bars in a jail cell would not prevent them from reaching their target, but impenetrable objects like walls or force fields would. The gloves are not thrown, they are a manifestation of the monk’s melee prowess. Because the original gloves remain on the monk’s hands, any damage done to the “clone” gloves does not affect the “real” gloves. However, if the monk attacks with a flurry of blows-compatible weapon in conjunction with these gloves, that weapon could sustain damage and/or become unusable (e.g., when attacking a rust monster or a corrosive slime.)
These gloves cannot be used to grasp, move, manipulate, or retrieve remote objects.
These gloves may be used to attack with a flurry of blows-compatible weapon or weapons. However, the gloves temporarily cease to function any time the monk attacks with something other than a flurry of blows-compatible weapon. These gloves resume their function the instant the monk uses a flurry of blows compatible weapon or their bare-hands to attack.
Note: These gloves do not negate Retribution Damage, whether the attack is made in Ranged or melee mode. (I.e., these gloves are not a sleaze to avoid RD.)
